Truly Nolen Pest Control Spider-Man 3 Movie Premiere
No tangled webs weaved
here: Just a colorfully-executed movie premiere and educational
tie-in. Truly Nolen is one
of our longest-running clients—15 years and counting—and
they have trusted us to provide quirky, yet carefully-mastered
pitches and placements. We’re happy to say we didn’t
disappoint with our tie-in to the Spider-Man 3 premiere
at Ft. Lauderdale’s Museum of Discovery and Science,
which houses the incredible IMAX Theater. Capitalizing
on Barry the Bug Guy (our incarnation inspired by Barry
Murray, Truly Nolen’s Director of Marketing), we
set out to merge Barry’s expertise on insect prevention
and education with the much-anticipated release of Spider-Man
3. We created a red carpet-style event, complete with models,
live Chilean Rose tarantulas, the always-gregarious Barry
Murray and a special guest-star: a famous Tinseltown bug
wrangler. What made the evening ultra unique?
• Tilson invited famous bug expert, Steve Kutcher—advisor
on the first Spider-Man, Arachnophobia, Copycat, Antwone
Fisher and other top Hollywood films—as the showcased
celebrity to discuss the Chilean Rose tarantulas, which
were donated to the Museum after the event
• A Truly Nolen stretch Mouse Car Limo, preceded
by two standard Mouse Cars, pulled up to the Museum entrance:
Steve, Barry and three models emerged to walk the red carpet;
two models carried the tarantulas in glass cages, and one
actually “wore” a spider on her shoulder as
a living brooch; actors pretending to be paparazzi surrounded
the red carpet for realism
• Spider-Man himself (portrayed by a local actor)
appeared as well, jumping and crawling his way around the
crowd
• We arranged a live feature on Deco Drive, a very
popular show on WSVN-7, the FOX affiliate for the Miami-Ft.
Lauderdale market; Steve and Barry were also featured on
NBC and in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel
